@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer concludes 2015 season at Skyline Conference Championship Tournament

Old Westbury advanced to its sixth-straight Skyline Conference Championship Tournament

PATCHOGUE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer season ended Saturday with a first round loss to the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament at Danzi Stadium in Patchogue, New York.

Advancing to their sixth-straight conference tournament, the fifth-seeded Panthers (8-8-1) lost a 5-0 decision to the fourth-seeded Golden Eagles (8-9-1).

Early on, St. Joseph's (L.I.) tested Panther goalkeeper Melissa Muller with four shots in the opening 5:13.  Old Westbury defender Sara Bey kept the Golden Eagles off the board with a header save before Claire Brady slipped one past Muller to break the scoring ice in the 10th minute.  St. Joseph's (L.I.) broke through in the 20th minute when Brady weaved past the Panther defense to double the Golden Eagles' advantage.

Down by two goals midway through the opening half, the Old Westbury offense picked up its pace and nearly cut the deficit in half in the 29th minute.  Melissa Outsen found position just outside the box and was able to make a turn and fire a shot on goal.  Golden Eagle goalkeeper Katie McGarrell was up to the task and turned away Old Westbury's best offensive chance of the game.

The Golden Eagles scored their third goal when Kristin Carroll hooked up with Meagan Luen in the 38th minute.  Four minutes later, St. Joseph's (L.I.) added an insurance goal by Shannon Kennedy, assisted by Jessica Cordano, to close out the first-half scoring.

St. Joseph's (L.I.) recorded 20 shots in the first half, with eight landing on target as Muller turned away three of them.

Brady would feed Chelsea Bellini in the 66th minute to settle the scoring.

In the end, the Golden Eagles held the advantage in shots (31-2), shots on goal (15-1) and corner kicks (9-2).

Muller (6-8-1) finished with eight saves while McGarrell (8-9-1) stopped one shot for her sixth clean sheet of the season.

Old Westbury ends its season with the loss and the careers of three Panther seniors - Allie McDonough (2014-15), Michelle Ventimiglia (2013-15) and Dana Yool (2014-15).
