Season Statistics

WILLIAMSPORT, PA ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball captured a 53-51 overtime win against the York (Pa.) Spartans (6-3) on Tuesday evening in first-round action at the Louis Fleming Basinger Memorial Tournament from Lamade Gym.  With the win, Old Westbury (5-4) advances to Wednesday's championship game against the host Lycoming Warriors in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Old Westbury broke the scoring ice 24 seconds into action with P.J. Page's jumper for the early advantage.  The Spartans fired back with back-to-back three pointers as part of an 8-0 run to take their largest lead of the game (8-2) with 16:51 remaining in the period.  Stephon Odle's layup at the 14:39 mark ignited a 14-3 Panther run capped by Lylle Ryals' second triple of the half for a 16-11 lead.  Old Westbury then took its largest lead the game with 5:31 showing on the first-half clock off Odle's layup to make it a 22-15 contest.  Both teams went cold by combining to miss on 11 shots from the field over the final three-plus minutes as the Panthers took a 25-19 advantage into intermission.

Both teams combined for five lead changes in the final 20 minutes of regulation as York (Pa.) used a 6-0 spurt to grab a brief 38-36 lead midway through the second half.  After Odle dropped in two more points to put the Panthers back up, the Spartans scored four-straight points to make it a 43-40 game.  Down 47-45 with 1:19 remaining, Ryals closed out the second-half scoring with a layup to send the game into overtime.

In what was a sluggish start to the extra frame, Blayde Reich sank a free-throw to score the first point in overtime with 3:09 remaining to put the Spartans ahead, 48-47.  Then with 2:24 left, Reich knocked down a pair of free-throws to make it a 50-47 game.  Old Westbury answered with a triple by Ryals to tie the game at 50 with 1:57 left.  With 39 seconds remaining, Dalton Myers' free-throw put York (Pa.) up by one (51-50).  Following an Old Westbury timeout, Odle connected on the game-winning three pointer with 20 seconds left for the 53-51 final.  Brad Wesner missed on the Spartans' attempt from long distance as Cody Zafran secured the rebound with three seconds remaining.

Ryals paced the Panthers with 17 points and seven rebounds in 43 minutes of action.  Odle followed with 14 points (6-of-12 FG) and three assists.  Keith Lackerson added eight points and six rebounds while Zafran nabbed a game-high three steals.

The Spartans were led by Myers's 13 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.  Reich and Chris Conway each chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.  Mike Duffy dished out a game-high four assists.

Old Westbury shot 32.8 percent (21-of-64) from the field while connecting on 17.9 percent (5-of-28) from three-point territory and 60 percent (6-of-10) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, York (Pa.) hit on 31.4 percent (16-of-51) from the floor, 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from beyond the arc and 60 percent (15-of-25) from the charity stripe.  The Spartans won the boards battle, 45-34, while Old Westbury scored 13 second-chance points off 12 offensive rebounds.  Old Westbury held the advantage in steals (8-2), points in the paint (28-16) and converted 16 Spartan turnovers into 16 points.
