OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - SUNY Old Westbury baseball split a Skyline Conference doubleheader with the visiting Farmingdale State Rams Sunday afternoon from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  The Rams claimed a 7-5 win in the opener before the Panthers answered with a 13-5 win in the finale.  Old Westbury (12-8) and Farmingdale State (9-12) both moved to 4-4 in conference play.

Game One: Farmingdale State 7, Old Westbury 5
Farmingdale State jumped ahead in the opening frame when back-to-back one-out singles, followed by a wild pitch set to plate for Dalton McCarthy (2-for-3, 3 RBI, R, BB), who knocked in two runs off a double to take a 2-0 lead.

Old Westbury answered in the third with a single by Nick Yip (2-for-5, 2 RBI, R) to score Joey Walsh (3-for-3, R, BB) from third to slice the Panthers deficit in half, 2-1.  Walsh walked to reach base, and advanced to third on a two-out fielding error by second baseman Dominic Palumbo (3-for-5, RBI, R) to extend the inning.
Panthers' starting right-handed Nick Dorcean (1-1, 5.1 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 4 K) allowed a single run in the fourth as the Rams took a 3-1 lead off Nick Osbourne's RBI single.

Old Westbury used three-straight singles to open their half of the fourth to make it a 3-2 game.  Michael Cardino (2-for-4, RBI, R) and Dean Sheridan (2-for-3) singled before Tommy Ziegen drove home Cardino for Old Westbury's second run of the game.

Farmingdale State doubled its advantage in the fifth off Anthony McQuade's sacrifice fly to score Anthony Alvino (2-for-3, 2 R, BB) with two outs for a 4-2 lead.  Rams' reliever Brandon Erneset (2-1, 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB) claimed the win after taking over the in the fifth for starter Kevin Cashman (4 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 ER, BB, 5 K).

Following three runs scored off Old Westbury left-handed reliever Nick Schoen in the seventh, the Panthers answered in the bottom of the inning with three runs to cut the Rams' lead down to two runs (7-5).  Yip produced a run-scoring double to start the rally.  Pagan followed with a sacrifice flyer to score Eddie Hernandez before Cardino singled home Yip for Old Westbury's fifth run.

Game Two: Old Westbury 13, Farmingdale State 5
Hernandez (1-for-3, 3 R, 2 BB) reached base in the first off Palumbo's one-out throwing error.  Yip (2-for-3, 3 R, BB) then clubbed a double followed by Pagan's RBI single to score Hernandez for Old Westbury's 1-0 lead.  The momentum carried to Sheridan's (4-for-4, 6 RBI, 2 R) at bat, who roped a single to double Old Westbury's advantage (2-0).

Farmingdale State matched Old Westbury in the top of the second with two unearned runs off Panther starting left hander Caleb Olesen (3-2, 7 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 K).

Old Westbury pulled ahead with four runs on two hits in the third to take a 6-2 lead.  Sheridan broke a 2-2 tie with a single to score Yip. Cardino (2-for-4, 2 RBI, R) then singled home Pagan, and two batters later, Sheridan advanced home on a wild pitch.  Stein dropped down a sacrifice bunt to score Cardino for Old Westbury four-run lead.

The Rams answered with a Christopher Reilly RBI single in the fourth to cut the deficit to three runs.

Sheridan increased Old Westbury's lead in the fourth to 7-3 off an RBI single to score Hernandez.

Old Westbury batted around the order and pilled on six more runs with six hits in the fifth to go up 13-3.  Coners' RBI single opened the scoring and Sheridan's three-run triple extended the lead to nine (12-3).  Walsh (1-for-4) singled earlier in the inning to extend his hitting streak to a career-best nine games before scoring off Sheridan's big hit.

Olesen totaled his third win of the season off his first-career complete game effort.  Farmingdale State starting right-hander Dalton McCarthy (0-4, 2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) lasted just two innings in defeat for the Rams.
