Weekes takes over @OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer's scoring lead versus Brooklyn

Tana Weekes netted his team-leading fourth goal of the season to extend scoring streak to four games

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer fell 2-1 at home Tuesday afternoon to the visiting Brooklyn Bulldogs in non-conference action from Panther Park.

Brooklyn (2-1-0) opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with Sertac Altun's header that landed past Panther goalie Peter Sicardi for the 1-0 lead.

Tana Weekes answered in the 39th minute for Old Westbury (0-5-0) off a feed from Michael Thornhill to knot the match at 1-1 heading into the locker room at intermission.  Weekes' team-leading fourth tally of the season extended his goal-scoring streak to four games. 

The Bulldogs found the game winner late in the contest when Valentyn Kharko headed home the go-ahead goal with nine seconds left to secure the win.

Overall, the Panthers held the edge in shots (21-15), shots on goal (7-4) and corner kicks (4-3).

Sicardi (0-5-0) made two saves while Ilya Keygen (2-1-0) made six stops in goal for Brooklyn.

YESHIVA MACCABEES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury opens Skyline Conference play on Friday (Sept. 18) at home against the Yeshiva Maccabees (2-3, 1-0 Skyline) at 11:30 a.m. from Panther Park.
