@OW_Panthers Men's Soccer battles Ramapo

Old Westbury jumps back to Skyline Conference play at home Saturday (Sept. 26) versus Sarah Lawrence

MAHWAH, NJ --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer dropped a 4-0 non-conference road contest to the Ramapo Roadrunners on Wednesday afternoon from Athletic Center Turf in Mahwah, New Jersey.  

Ramapo (5-3-1) started the match on the attack as David Calabrese buried the team's first shot attempt at the 1:06 mark past Old Westbury (0-7-0) goalkeeper Peter Sicardi.  The Roadrunners fired the game's first seven shots before Eric Ragogna challenged goalie Ryan Sprague twice in the 27th minute to get Old Westbury in the shot column.  Justin Olaya doubled the Roadrunners' advantage in the 36th minute to make it a 2-0 game.  With 1:22 remaining in the half, Marco Samson made it 3-0.

Trevor Albrecht grew the Ramapo lead to 4-0 in the 52nd minute to close out the scoring.

In the end, Ramapo held the edge in shots (25-8), shots on target (15-6) and corner kicks (12-5).  Six different Panthers had shots in the match and were led by Dominick Guidice's two attempts on goal.  Old Westbury totaled a season-high five corner kicks.  

Sicardi (0-7-0) made nine saves in defeat while Sprague (2-1-1) stopped six to earn his third shutout of the season.  

SARAH LAWRENCE GRYPHONS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home for a Skyline Conference showdown on Saturday (Sept. 26) afternoon versus the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons at 12 p.m. from Panther Park.
