Old Westbury returns to action September 30 at home versus York

Gameday Program

OLD WESTBURY, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball was unable to pull off the Skyline Conference win Sunday afternoon, falling in three sets, 25-12, 25-14, 25-12, in front of the home crowd versus the Maritime Privateers from Clark Athletic Center.  Old Westbury (3-5) now stands at 1-2 in conference play while Maritime (6-7) improved to 2-2.

Erika Bailey served two-straight aces to open Maritime's lead to eight points (16-8) more than halfway through the first set.  Maritime then answered Old Westbury's 3-0 spurt with the final eight points to secure the opening-set win.

In the second set, the Privateers used a key 10-0 run to create separation for an 18-6 lead.

Olivia O'Keefe nailed down one of her two kills on the day to spark a 4-0 Panther run early in the third to hold a 4-1 edge.  The Panthers held their final lead at 5-4 before Maritime used an 8-0 run to take a 12-5 advantage.  Maritime closed out the match with seven unanswered points to earn the three-set sweep.

Rayn Brown led Old Westbury with six kills on 14 swings to hit .357.  Brown added one block and one ace to go along with six of the team's 21 digs.  Chelsey Hoffman followed with eight assists and five digs.

Maritime used a balanced attack to take control of the match as two different Privateers posted nine kills of more.  Shannon Brady paced the team with 11 while Carly Lombardo added nine.  Bailey's 23 assists moved the offense while Brady scooped up 13 digs.

Old Westbury hit -.030 as a team compared to .242 for the Privateers.
