@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer nets trio of second-half goals at FDU-Florham

Dominick Guidice paced the Panthers with two goals and one assist Saturday afternoon

MADISON, NJ --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team was unable to overcome a 5-0 first-half deficit and dropped a non-conference road match to the FDU-Florham Devils, 7-3, Saturday afternoon from Robert T. Shields Field in Madison, New Jersey.  Old Westbury falls to 0-2-0 on the young season while FDU-Florham moves to 2-0-0.

The Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute as Andrew Ruane put away a pass from Jose Guardado for one of his two goals on the day.  Guardado then doubled the Devils' advantage in the 10th minute after receiving a long pass across midfield from Sebastian Gallo for the score.  AJ Carnevale scored FDU-Florham's third goal in the 32nd minute before Guardado slotted a pass to Gallo, who used his head to make it a 4-0 game in the 38th minute.  Brian Chairello hooked up with Robby Bonjione in the 39th minute to send the Devils in the half with a five-goal lead.

Dominick Guidice sent a pass from inside the box to Tana Weekes for Old Westbury's first goal of the season in the 48th minute.  Craig Mannhart would later set up Guidice for Old Westbury's second goal with a long cross into the middle of the box in the 51st minute.

FDU-Florham replied with a pair of goals 26 seconds apart at 57:42 and 58:08 by Jay Bower and Ruane, respectively, to go up 7-2.

Guidice responded in the 64th minute off a long through ball from Jon Kerby to make the final margin 7-3.  Guidice's five-point performance tied his career-high originally set September 20, 2014 at Sarah Lawrence.

Overall, FDU-Florham outshot Old Westbury 24-8 (15-3 on goal) and had a 9-1 corner kick advantage.

Peter Sicardi (0-2-0) totaled eight saves for Old Westbury.  Frank Maggiore, Jr. and Nick Mihalik (2-0-0) split time in goal for the Devils' combined shutout.
