OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball held a 20-point halftime lead and never looked back in a wire-to-wire 71-58 Skyline Conference victory over the visiting St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) Bears Tuesday evening inside Clark Athletic Center.  The win gave Old Westbury (11-3) the series sweep over the Bears (5-11, 4-4 Skyline) to improve to 6-1 in conference play.

Jasmine Robinson broke the scoring ice 33 seconds into play with a three-point play to put Old Westbury on top.  Raven Pentz landed a three pointer to spark a 12-2 Panther run over the final 2:47 for a 13-point lead (20-7) at the end of the first quarter.

Following a Desitny Marino made free throw at the 8:35 mark in the second period, Old Westbury responded with a 15-1 scoring spree to extend its lead to 23 points (35-12) with 3:48 remaining.  Ruth Vargas' layup stretched the Panthers' lead to a game-high 24 points (40-16) with 2:21 left as Old Westbury took a 40-20 advantage into the half.

The Bears stormed out of the second-half gates with a 15-4 spurt to make it a nine-point game (44-35) with 5:05 showing on the third-quarter clock.  Old Westbury built its lead back to 15 points with an 8-2 run to make it a 52-37 game heading into the fourth quarter.

Robinson scored four of Old Westbury's seven points to open the fourth quarter with a 7-0 run as the lead swelled to as many as 22 points (59-37) during the final stanza.  Down 65-46 with 3:50 remaining, St. Joseph's used a 12-4 spurt to make it an 11-point game before Tori Bellings answered for the Panthers with a layup to close out the scoring books with 34 seconds left. 

Robinson combined 19 points and a career-high 10 rebounds to post her first career double-double.  She added seven steals, six assists and two blocks (tied career-high) to her statline.  Pentz followed with 14 points (4-of-6 3FG) and three steals while Crystal Barnes added 14 rebounds, eight points and three blocks.  Bellings dished out a career-best five assists off the bench.    

Victoria Porcasi poured in a game-high 27 points (12-of-14 FT) to lead the Bears.  Martino finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 turnovers to record the backwards triple-double. 

In the end, Old Westbury shot 42.3 percent (30-of-71) from the field, a season-high 42.9 percent (6-of-14) from three-point range, and converted 50 percent (5-of-10) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, St. Joseph's hit 23.4 percent (15-of-64) from the floor, 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from beyond the arc and 68.8 percent (22-of-32) from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 58-44, scoring 17 second-chance points off 21 offensive rebounds.  The Panthers tied a season high with eight blocks while also holding the advantage in steals (15-14), assists (17-9), points in the paint (44-14), fast-break points (24-8) and bench points (22-7).
