BROOKLYN ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball earned an 85-72 non-conference road win Tuesday evening over the Medgar Evers Cougars from Cougars Cave.  Old Westbury's sixth-straight win improved its record to 15-3 on the season, while the Cougars fell to 1-17.

Raven Pentz dialed in from three-point range to put the Panthers on the board four seconds into play with a 3-0 lead.  Both teams went scoreless over the next 3:36 until Monique Joseph completed the fast break off a feed from Pentz to make it a five-point game.  Tori Bellings dropped in a layup to extend Old Westbury's lead to seven before Danyelle Foster's jumper broke the scoring ice for Medgar Evers with 5:07 to go.  Foster would later cap a 10-2 run with a layup to give the Cougars their lone lead of the game (19-17) with 55 seconds left.  Old Westbury took the lead for good off Bellings' layup with five seconds remaining to push a 21-19 advantage into the second quarter.

Old Westbury went up by 11 points (37-26) in the second period as Barnes' layup ended a 10-3 Panther run.  Medgar Evers countered with eight unanswered points to trim the deficit to four points before heading into intermission down by five, 40-35.

The Panthers put the game away with a 22-11 scoring edge over Medgar Evers during the third quarter.  Pentz's layup extended Old Westbury's lead to a game-high 17 points with 52 seconds remaining in the stanza.

Medar Evers rallied in the fourth to pull within seven points (66-59) off an 11-2 run from 9:18 to 7:24.  Old Westbury proved to be too much to handle by maintaining a double-digit lead over the final 6:51 as Pentz and Alexis Hart each brought the cushion back to 17 points.

Jasmine Robinson registered game highs of 23 points, eight assists (career high) and six steals to lead the Panthers.  Barnes used 14 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks to notch her 10th double-double of the season (20th career).  Ruth Vargas followed with 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals off the bench while Pentz chipped in with 10 points, eight assists and three steals.  Joseph tied a career high with four steals.

Nia Tompkins' 17 points paced the Cougars.  Foster added 16 while Elesha Dieudonne scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

In the end, Old Westbury hit on 44.6 percent (33-of-74 FG) from the field, 30.8 percent (4-of-13 3FG) from three-point territory and 68.2 percent (15-of-22 FT) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, Medgar Evers shot 33.8 percent (25-of-74 FG) from the floor, 43.5 percent (10-of-23 3FG) from long distance and 63.2 percent (12-of-19 FT) from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 50-45, scoring 14 second-chance points off 19 offensive rebounds.  The Panthers also held the advantage in steals (16-8), blocks (5-3), assists (23-9), points in the paint (46-16), bench points (28-24) and fast-break points (12-2) while converting 24 Cougar turnovers into 24 points.
