@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer battles Sage on the road

Old Westbury closes its non-conference schedule Thursday (Oct. 20) at York

LANSINGBURGH, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer allowed six first-half goals en route to falling 12-0 Saturday afternoon in Skyline Conference road action against The Sage Colleges Gators (9-6-0, 3-1-0) at Lansingburgh High School.

Maegan Villa broke the scoring ice 8:37 in to put the game-winning goal past Old Westbury (4-8-1, 2-5-0) goalie Jessica Tuckruskye.  Villa then found Samantha Trimblett in the 13th minute to double Sage's advantage with her first of three goals on the day.  Cara Normile fired Old Westbury's first attempt wide in the 15th minute before Mayra Bonilla's shot in the 25th minute was stopped by Sage netminder Cassy Robataille.  Jordyn Logan (25:30), Madison Spohr (37:27) and Sarah Hume also scored first-half goals to send the Gators into intermission with a 6-0 lead.    

Normile put up a pair of second-half shots while Leeanna Rodriguez attempted the game's final shot in the 86th minute for Old Westbury.  Trimblett added goals in the 47th and 57th minutes to record the hat trick.  Hume settled the scoring in the 86th minute for the 12-0 final.

Tuckruskye (1-5-0) made six first-half saves before Mary Clark took over to stop five shots in the second half for Old Westbury.  Robataille (9-6-0) and Emma Augustine combined to make four saves to secure Sage's win. 

In the end, Sage held the edge in shots (36-5), shots on goal (23-4) and corner kicks (7-0).

YORK COLLEGE CARDINALS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS:  Old Westbury closes out its non-conference schedule Thursday (Oct. 20) on the road against the York College Cardinals at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, New York.
