Bey’s late goal sends @OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer to tie at Lehman

Sara Bey scored in the 89th minute to send Monday’s non-conference road matchup into overtime

BRONX, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer (3-6-1) scored late in the second half to force overtime and settled for a 1-1 non-conference tie after 110 minutes of action on the road Monday evening against the Lehman College Lightning (4-4-1) from South Field in Bronx, New York.

Following a scoreless opening period, Lehman found the back of the net 1:31 into second-half play as a shot by Daisy Gomez bounced over Panther goalie Mary Clark for the go-ahead goal.  Old Westbury answered late in the stanza with a goal by Sara Bey in the 89th minute to send the game into overtime.

Old Westbury pressured Lehman goalie Linda Resto in the first overtime as Melissa Outsen attempted three shots.  With Jessica Tuckruskye now positioned in goal for Old Westbury, the Panther defense held Lehman shotless in the first overtime period.

The Panthers failed to convert on back-to-back shots on target by Sarah Roslonowski and Paulina Vairo before Chelsey Harris put up Lehman's lone overtime shot with 41 seconds remaining.

In the end, Old Westbury held the advantage in shots on goal (15-8) and corner kicks (4-1), while both teams finished with 19 shots apiece.

Old Westbury made seven saves on the evening as Clark stopped six shots and Tuckruskye was credited with one.  Resto made 14 saves in a complete-game effort for Lehman.

SARAH LAWRENCE COLLEGE GRYPHONS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS:  Old Westbury returns home Saturday (Oct. 8) for a Skyline Conference Senior Day matchup against the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons at 12 p.m. inside Panther Park
