Season Statistics l Skyline Conference Standings

RIVERDALE, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball were outscored in each of the final three quarters as the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins snapped the Panthers' 10-game win streak with Saturday's 60-56 Skyline Conference road final inside Peter Jay Sharpe Center.  The setback moves Old Westbury (19-4) to 12-2 in the league standings while the Dolphins (16-8) climbed to 12-3.

Both teams started off cold, combining to miss on their first eight shots until Allison Clarke sank a jumper to break the scoring ice that gave the Dolphins the early advantage 3:11 into play.  Theresa Carey's three pointer extended Mount Saint Vincent's lead to a game-high five points (5-0) with 5:49 left in the first period.  Jasmine Robinson answered with a triple that ignited a 15-2 Panther run to close out the final 4:28 to send Old Westbury into the second quarter with a 15-7 lead.

Mount Saint Vincent opened the second quarter with a 4-0 run and outscored the Panthers 18-14 to head into the half down 29-25.

The Dolphins would outscore the Panthers for the second-straight period by five points (20-15), and led for the final 1:11 to hold a one-point advantage (45-44) at the end of three quarters of play.

Raven Pentz connected on a three pointer and Imani Lariosa followed with a layup to open a 5-0 fourth-quarter spurt for the Panthers.  Robinson would later drop in a layup to put Old Westbury up by four (53-49) with 4:42 remaining.  The Panthers struggled down the stretch, turning the ball over five times while combining to shoot 1-of-7 from the field and 1-of-6 from the free-throw line as Mount Saint Vincent used an 11-3 run to close out the final 3:29 to steal the win.

Robinson led all scorers with 19 points (4-of-8 3FG) to pace the Panthers.  Pentz followed with 11 to go along with five rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Ruth Vargas grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds off the bench to erase her previous high of 13 that was set on January 20, 2011 versus Mount Saint Vincent.  Olivia Ilardi added nine rebounds and Tori Bellings chipped in with eight points and two steals.

Carey finished with 13 points to pace the Dolphins while Kelly Nola and Kelly Oliver each poured in 11.

In the end, Old Westbury shot 30.5 percent (18-of-59) from the field, 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from three-point territory and 45.2 percent (14-of-31) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, Mount Saint Vincent hit on 35.8 percent (19-of-53) from the floor, 31.3 percent (5-of-16) from the beyond the arc and 63 percent (17-of-27) from the stripe.  For just the seventh time this season, Old Westbury lost the boards battled as the Dolphins held a 47-43 edge, scoring nine second-chance points off 14 offensive rebounds.  Old Westbury converted 31 Dolphin turnovers into 25 points.

FARMINGDALE STATE RAMS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home for a two-game homestand to close out the regular season on Wednesday (Feb. 17) starting wtih the Farmingdale State Rams in a Skyline Conference showdown at 7 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center.  Old Westbury will look to complete the series sweep of the Rams after claiming a 73-48 road win (Box Score) on January 22.
