OLD WESTBURY, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball will enter Saturday's regular-season finale with a chance to claim the Skyline Conference Regular Season Championship after falling Thursday at home to the Farmingdale State Rams in a wild 75-71 setback inside Clark Athletic Center.  The loss moves Old Westbury (16-8) to 15-4 in the conference standings while the Rams (13-11) improved to 13-6.

The Rams jumped out early to a 5-0 lead as Old Westbury struggled in the opening minutes by missing on its first four attempts from the field.  Farmingdale State later used a 9-0 run from 16:12 to 12:28 to take an 11 point lead (16-5).  Kaleem Edwards' layup sparked the Panthers' 12-2 run to pull Old Westbury within one point (18-17) with 7:33 remaining.  Farmingdale State's Antony Lanieri scored five-straight points to put the Rams ahead by six (23-17) with 6:21 left.  Old Westbury chipped away and landed within two points off a 3-pointer by Cody Zafran in the final minute before Trey Kinard's triple at the buzzer sent the Rams into the half with a 31-26 lead.

Stephon Odle connected on back-to-back 3-pointers to start the second half to give Old Westbury its first lead of the game (34-31) with 18:06 remaining.  Odle's triples ignited a thunderous 17-2 Panther run that gave Old Westbury a 43-33 lead with 13:25 left.  Moments later, the Panthers took a game-high 14-point lead (55-41) off a pair of made free throws by Jamail Stanley that capped a 12-4 spurt with 8:07 showing on the clock.  Farmingdale State fired back with a 22-2 run from 7:53 to 2:27 to grab the lead for good.  The Rams were clutch from the free-throw line down the stretch, sinking 11-of-12 during the final 2:43 to push the lead to nine (74-65) with 20 seconds left.  Despite Lylle Ryals and P.J. Page knocking down 3-pointers in the final 10 seconds for the Panthers, Farmingdale State prevailed with the four-point road win.

Stanley finished with 31 points (10-of-19 FG), 12 rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks to record his 11th double-double of the season.  Odle followed with 14 points (4-of-7 3FG) and four assists.  Ryals nabbed three steals and Edwards added two.

The Rams scored five players in double-digits led by Jarred Marrow's 15 points off the bench.

In the end, Old Westbury shot 37.9 percent (25-of-66) from the field, 30.8 percent (8-of-26) from three-point range and 72.2 percent (13-of-18) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, Farmingdale State hit on 38.9 percent (21-of-54) from the floor, 40 percent (8-of-20) from beyond the arc and 89.3 percent (25-of-28) from the stripe.  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 40-38, while the Rams scored 16 second-chance points off 11 offensive rebounds.  The Panthers held the advantage in steals (8-7), blocks (4-2), points in the paint (32-20) and fast-break points as Farmingdale State converted 13 Old Westbury turnovers into 18 points.

SAGE GATORS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury remains at home to close out the regular season on Saturday (Feb. 20) in a Skyline Conference Senior Day matchup with the Sage Gators at 1 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center.  Old Westbury will look to even the season series after the Gators claimed a 74-59 (Box Score) home win on January 7.  Prior to tip-off, seniors Kaleem Edwards, Keith Lackerson and P.J. Page will be honored with the annual senior day ceremony for their dedication to the program.
