(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball is set to play in its first-ever NCAA Division III tournament and will travel to Hoboken, New Jersey, the site of the first-and-second round action.

Stevens Institute of Technology (21-6) will host the the four-team pod.  The Panthers (23-5) will take on the host Ducks in first-round action Friday at 8 p.m. inside Canavan Arena.  Old Westbury captured its first Skyline Conference title to earn the league's automatic bid by defeating The Sage Colleges, 57-43, on February 27.  Stevens took down Ithaca Saturday to win the Empire 8 title for the programs fourth NCAA appearance.    

Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham (21-6) will take on the SUNY Geneseo Knights (20-7) in the other first-round game at 6 p.m.  The Devils earned the MAC Freedom Conference's automatic bid following Saturday's title game victory over DeSales University to make their fourth-straight trip (fourth overall) to the dance.  The Knights make their second-consecutive NCAA appearance after earning an at-large bid following a setback to SUNY New Paltz in the SUNYAC Championship game. 

The winner of each first-round contest would move on to a second-round game at 6 p.m. on Saturday.  The cost of admission for games will be $5, and $3 for visiting students/senior citizens.  Children under 12 will be admitted free of charge.

The NCAA Division III women's basketball tournament features a 64-team field with 44 automatic bids, and 20 at-large spots.  Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites March 11-12. Winners of the four sectional sites will advance to the national semifinals March 19. All games, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The semifinals will be conducted at the Capital Center Performance Arena on the campus of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.

The finals will be part of a larger 35th anniversary NCAA women's basketball championship celebration taking place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis the first week in April.  Championship week will culminate with five championship basketball games and three national titles decided within a 48-hour period at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.  It will be the first time in the history of NCAA women's basketball that all three divisional championships will be decided in the same city and venue.  The Division I national semifinals will be played April 3 at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.  The Division II and III national championship games will be played on April 4 at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively, while the Division I national championship will be played on April 5 at 8:30 p.m.  Click here for the full NCAA Division III interactive bracket.
