Skyline Conference Standings

THROGGS NECK, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury baseball claimed an 18-6 Skyline Conference game one victory over the Maritime Privateers before falling 4-3 in the finale in Sunday afternoon from Reinhart Field.

Game 1: Old Westbury 18, Maritime 6 (8 Inn.)
Jesse Russo (5-for-7, 3 2B, 5 RBI, 3 R, 2 SB) set the table for Old Westbury with a leadoff double and came around to score after stealing third on a throwing error by catcher Aaron Schiavoni.  Kevin Lao (3-for-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 R) drilled a two-run homer to give the Panthers a 3-0 first-inning lead on Privateer starter Alex Poliwoda (4-3, 5 IP, 13 H, 10 R, 2 BB, 2 K).

Paul Woodburn's (2-for-3, 2 RBI, R) two-run homer ignited Maritime's four-run first inning off Jeremy Charles (5-2, 7 IP, 7 H, R, BB, 7 K)

Trailing 5-3 in the fourth, Tommy Ziegen (2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R) tied the game for the Panthers with a sacrifice fly to score Russo.

Anthony Vieto put the Privateers back on top in the fourth with a solo home run for a 6-5 lead.

Old Westbury answered with four runs in the fifth to take hold of the game.  Russo doubled home Joe Boscia (1-for-4, RBI, 3 R, BB) and Preston Zanon (4-for-5, RBI, R, 2 2B) for the game-winning runs followed by Joey Walsh's RBI single to make it an 8-6 game.

The Panthers took an 11-6 advantage heading into the sixth with Lao's two-run homer and Zanon's RBI double.

Ziegen then sent a solo shot over the left center fence as part of Old Westbury's four-run seventh.

Russo singled home J.J. Lindgren Jr. in the eighth to secure the run-rule victory.

Dean Sheridan (4-for-5, 3 R) added his fourth-career four-hit game to Old Westbury's 22-hit attack.

Game 2: Maritime 4, Old Westbury 3
Sheridan broke the scoring ice in the fourth with a sacrifice fly that scored Russo for the game's initial run.  Lao connected on a two-run shot over the right center fence off starter Tyler Stuart (5-2, 7 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 7 K) for his team-leading seventh home run of this season.

Stephen Semler (1-for-2) answered in the fourth with a solo home run off Panther starter Daniel Aguilo (5-3, 6 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 4 K).

The Privateers added two more runs in the fifth as Aguilio's wild pitch moved Kevin Monaghan to third before scoring on a throwing error by catcher Carlos Balmaceda to make it a 3-3 game.

Chris Deddo (3-for-4, 2 R, RBI) led off the seventh with a walk-off home run to salvage the split.
