FARMINGDALE, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury baseball faced the top-seeded Farmingdale State Rams Saturday in the elimination game of the 2016 Skyline Conference Championship in Farmingdale, New York.  The defending champions and second-seeded Panthers lost a 5-4 decision in 10 innings to conclude their season with a 26-15 mark to record their eighth-straight 20-win season.

Tommy Ziegen (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 R, HR, 3B, BB) broke the scoring ice in the first inning with his fourth home run of the season to give the Panthers the early lead on Ram starter Kevin Martinez (ND, 2.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 K).

The Rams tied the game in the second with Brandon Snow's (2-for-5) two-out RBI single off Panther starter Daniel Aguilo (ND, 5.2 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K).

Joey Walsh (3-for-5, 2 2B, 2 R) ignited Old Westbury's two-out rally with a double in the third.  Ziegen then drove home Walsh to register his 10th triple of the season.  Dean Sheridan followed with a RBI triple to score Ziegen to push a 3-1 lead.

Farmingdale State took a 4-3 lead to end Aguilo's day in the sixth inning.  Kenneth Johntry's two-out single scored two before reliever Nick Dorcean (3.2 IP, 4 H, 4 K) allowed a RBI single to Nick Attardi (3-for-5) for the go-ahead run.

Walsh led off the Panthers' seventh with a single and scored two batters later on a throwing error by first baseman Christopher Reilly to make it a 4-4 game.

Ram reliever Matthew Constantine scattered a pair of Panthers in scoring position to escape of a jam in the ninth to send the game into extra innings.

Farmingdale State took the lead with Domenic Palumbo's RBI single that scored Luiggy Marte for the game-winning run off reliever Ryan Mordecai (0-2, 0.1 IP, ER, 2 BB).

Michael Cardino (3-for-5, 2B) and Joe Bosia (2-for-4) combined for five of Old Westbury's 13 hits.

The Panthers graduate seniors Vinny Caputo (2016), Jeremy Charles (2016), Tyler Kapela (2013-16) and Walsh (2013-16).
