@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer settles for season-opening tie at Lehman

Old Westbury opens its 11-game home schedule Saturday versus Mount Aloysius

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer opened the 2016 campaign Thursday afternoon with a 1-1 tie on the road to the Lehman Lightning from South Field. 

Adan Velasquez broke the scoring ice in the 14th minute with a breakaway goal to give Old Westbury the early 1-0 lead.  Lehman got on the board in the 34th minute with a goal by Omar Moro that would settle the 1-1 final. 

Mike Warren (0-0-1) made five saves in 110 minutes in goal for the Panthers. 

Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (17-11) and corner kicks (4-3), while Lehman fired six shots on goal compared to the Panthers' five. 

Seaton Cole led the Panthers with five shots followed by Velasquez's four.  

MOUNT ALOYSIUS MOUNTIES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home Saturday (Sept. 3) to take on the Mount Aloysius Mounties in non-conference action at 12 p.m. from Panther Park.  Complementary stadium food will be available to fans starting at 12 p.m.
