@OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball competes at Rutgers-Camden tri-match

Old Westbury remains on the road for a showdown with Centenary on September 14

CAMDEN, NJ --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.comSUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball competed Saturday at the Rutgers University-Camden tri-match against the host Scarlet Raptors (4-4) and the Delaware Valley University Aggies (2-6) from Athletics and Fitness Center in Camden, New Jersey.  Old Westbury lost in straight sets by a 3-0 scoreline to Delaware Valley (25-14, 25-15, 25-11) and Rutgers-Camden (25-8, 25-14, 25-9).

In the opener against Delaware Valley, Ruth Vargas paced the Panthers with six kills as Sofia Goris handed out four assists.  Shanayia Lloyd and Olivia O'Keefe each followed with two kills.  Lloyd totaled 11 digs while Marie McKenzie had nine and Amanda Neenan added seven.  

Taylor Klecan and Kate Woolsey each produced match highs of 10 kills to lead Delaware Valley.  Nicole Daigneault moved the offense with 22 assists.  Kourtney Campbell served four of the team's 15 aces and Woolsey scooped 16 digs. 

Against Rutgers-Camden, Alicia Gewirtz registered career highs of five assists, seven digs and one block assist to lead Old Westbury.  O'Keefe totaled seven digs, two kills and the Panthers' lone ace for the second-straight match.  Lloyd added three kills and four digs while McKenzie contributed five digs, one solo block and a block assist. 

Jamie Mulligan nailed down nine kills on 14 swings to lead Rutgers-Camden to victory.  Morgan Mulligan followed with six kills and four aces.  Kim Bryfogle and Caitlynn Marcano both directed the offense with 14 assists as Meghan Gallagher's 11 digs sparked the defense.  

CENTENARY COLLEGE CYCLONES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 14) on the road against the Centenary College Cyclones in Hackettstown, New Jersey.  First serve is set for 7 p.m. from John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center.
