@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer ends NYU match in 1-1 tie

Old Westbury remains unbeaten with Sunday’s draw at home

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer settled for a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon at the end of 110 minutes against the visiting New York University Violets (2-2-1) from Panther Park.

Evan Reifsnyder broke the scoring ice in the seventh minute after receiving a pass from Trista Medios-Simon for the Violets' 1-0 lead.  Moments later, Ronald Monge sent a long ball to Dominick Guidice for his team-leading third goal of the season to make it 1-1 game in the 15th minute for Old Westbury (1-0-3).  The Panthers held a 9-3 edge in shots during the opening 45 minutes.
 
Old Westbury put up eight shots compared to NYU's seven during a scoreless second half.  

The Panthers applied pressure to NYU in the opening 10 minutes of overtime with a 3-1 shot advantage while the Violets controlled the final 10 minutes with a 4-0 edge in shots.

In goal, Mike Warren (1-0-3) recorded all 110 minutes, making six saves, while Lucas Doucette (1-1-1) represented NYU in goal with seven saves in 65 minutes of action.   

Old Westbury finished with the advantage in shots (20-16), shots on goal (12-7) and corner kicks (8-5).

KEAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury travels Wednesday (Sept. 14) to Union, New Jersey to take on the Kean University Cougars at 7:30 p.m. in non-conference action from Alumni Field.
