PATCHOGUE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball opened play Friday at the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Invitational versus the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons inside Danzi Center. The Red Dragons (6-4) defeated Old Westbury (0-7) in straight sets (25-6, 25-12, 25-8) from Patchogue, New York.
Shanayia Lloyd led Old Westbury with three kills on seven swings to go along with four digs.
Ruth Vargas followed with two blocks (one solo, one assist) and six digs while
Sofia Goris chipped in with two digs and two assists.
Olivia O'Keefe contributed four digs and
Marie McKenzie had one block assist.
Sarah Piacentini paced the Red Dragons with 16 assists and five aces. Courtney Silberer nailed down a match-high eight kills and served two of Cortland's 21 aces.
MONTCLAIR STATE RED HAWKS AND ST. JOSEPH'S (L.I.) GOLDEN EAGLES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury closes out play at the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Invitational Saturday afternoon against the Montclair State Red Hawks at 2 p.m., followed by the host Golden Eagles at 4 p.m. in Patchogue, New York.
