@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer shuts down St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn)

Old Westbury collected an 8-0 non-conference road win Sunday to record its second-straight shutout

BROOKLYN, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer continued to click on all cylinders with Sunday's 8-0 non-conference road win against the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears (1-5) from Aviator Field in Brooklyn, New York.  Old Westbury (3-4) has now outscored its opponents 17-0 as winners of two in a row.

The Panthers tested Bear goalie Kristen Candelaria early by firing six shots before Edania Martinez broke the scoring ice in the 11th minute for her sixth-career game-winning goal.  Old Westbury doubled its advantage in the 19th minute as Melissa Outsen registered her second assist of the game with a pass to Sarah Roslonowski for the score to make it a 2-0 game.  Outsen then put away a feed from Jessica Tuckruskye in the 28th minute to send the Panthers into the half with a 3-0 lead.

Outsen opened the second-half scoring in the 53rd minute with her fifth-career multi-goal game. Following an own goal in the 60th minute, Tuckruskye and Martinez scored in the 75th and 82nd minutes, respectively, before Samantha Cervantes settled a pass from Outsen for the 8-0 final in the 84th minute.  Outsen totaled career highs of eight points and four assists.

In the end, Old Westbury held the edge in shots (25-0), shots on goal (16-0) and corner kicks (7-2).

Mary Clark (3-3-0) was credited with Old Westbury's win as Candelaria (1-5-0) stopped eight shots in defeat for St. Joseph's.
