THROGGS NECK, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball traveled to SUNY Maritime Sunday afternoon for a Skyline Conference tri-match inside Riesenberg Gymnasium. Old Westbury (10-11, 1-7 Skyline) lost in four sets (16-25, 23-25, 25-19, 16-25) to the host Privateers (10-11, 4-3 Skyline) in the opener before falling in three sets (19-25, 23-25, 19-25) to the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles (7-12, 3-2 Skyline).

Old Westbury tallied its lone set win of the day by hitting .147 in the third set in the opener versus Maritime. The Panthers finished the match hitting .034 compared to Maritime's .184 as the Privateers also held the advantage in kills (48-31), aces (9-6), assists (38-24) and digs (53-46). Old Westbury won the blocks battle with a 10-1 edge.

Kyraleigh Zinnel paced Old Westbury with eight kills, eight assists and nine digs. Kristin Grieshaber contributed 12 digs, nine assists and six kills while Sidasia Johnson chipped in with four solo blocks. Nikia Gardon served three aces as Marie McKenzie hit .400 with four kills and two blocks (one solo, two assists).

Meredith Hayes nailed down a match-high 17 kills (.419 hitting percentage) as Erika Kirchner's 35 assists moved the Maritime offense. Abby Solomos led the defense with 17 digs.

Against St. Joseph's, Old Westbury hit .047 in the opening set before finishing at .030 compared to the Golden Eagles' .138. Old Westbury held the edge in aces (10-9) and blocks (9-5) while
St. Joseph's controlled kills (41-17), assists (35-15) and digs (67-57).

Zinnel totaled 11 assists and seven aces to lead Old Westbury. Johnson added five blocks (four solo, two assists) and Sofia Goris scooped 20 digs.

St. Joseph's was led by Claire Urizzo's 16 kills, Brionna Silva's 22 assists and Danielle Senecal's four aces on offense. Kristen Bohnenblusch totaled 17 digs and was one of four Golden Eagles to finish with double-digit digs.

SENIOR DAY TRI-MATCH VERSUS WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY AND NEW JERSEY CITY UNIVERSITY UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home Saturday (Oct. 21) for a Senior Day tri-match starting with the William Paterson University Pioneers at 10 a.m. and New Jersey City University Gothic Knights at 2 p.m.
