OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball lost in straight sets (25-8, 25-19, 25-8) to the William Paterson University Pioneers (15-8) in the opener before claiming victory in four sets (26-24, 15-25, 25-22, 25-23) over the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights (12-13) in Saturday's Dig Pink Senior Day tri-match inside Clark Athletic Center.

Prior to first serve against New Jersey City, seniors Nikia Gardon (2016-17), Marie McKenzie (2016-17), Olivia O'Keefe (2014-17) and Jessica Tuckruskye (2017) were honored with Old Westbury's annual Senior Day Ceremony for their dedication to SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball.

Against William Paterson, Old Westbury put together its finest set in the second stanza by hitting .086 before finishing the match swinging at .000. The Pioneers hit .400 while holding the advantage in kills (43-19), aces (8-3), assists (39-18) and digs (40-28) as the Panthers matched them with two blocks.

Kyraleigh Zinnel directed the Panther offense with 11 assists. Nikia Gardon led the team with six kills as Sidasia Johnson served two aces. Jazmine Ortiz scooped nine digs to pace the defense.

The Pioneers were led by Christine Griffith's 12 kills and two aces. Kendall Carusso contributed 33 assists and 11 digs to the win.

Old Westbury secured the New Jersey City win by hitting .259 in the fourth set to finish the matching firing away at a .140 clip. Old Westbury held the edge in hitting percentage (.140 - .033) and digs (43-41) while the Gothic Knights outplayed the Panthers in kills (37-32), aces (18-14), blocks (5-4) and assists (33-31).

Marie McKenzie compiled three blocks (two solo, one assist) and nailed down seven kills on 16 swings to hit .313 in leading Old Westbury. Zinnell produced 19 assists (career high) and three aces while Kristin Grieshaber added 12 assists, five kills, four aces and eight digs. Gardon totaled six kills and eight digs.

Amber O'Donnell's 12 kills paced New Jersey City. Shaylah Ware chipped in with 17 assists and three aces as Stephanie Duque served a match-high nine aces.

COLLEGE OF STATEN ISLAND DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury closes its home schedule Tuesday (Oct. 24) with a non-conference showdown versus College of Staten Island (7-15) at 6 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center.
