@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer competes strong against Skyline leading Mount Saint Mary at home

Old Westbury travels to College of Mount Saint Vincent Saturday (Oct. 21) for a Skyline Conference showdown

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer dropped a 3-0 Skyline Conference home decision Tuesday afternoon to the Mount Saint Mary College Knights (13-2-1, 7-0-0 Skyline) inside Panther Park.

After holding the first-place Knights scoreless in the opening stanza, Old Westbury surrendered the game-winning goal in the 51st minute as Gina Rivera put away Allison Jones' rebound for 1-0 lead.  In the 70th minute, Mary Riley scored on Old Westbury (2-12-1, 1-5-1 Skyline) goalie Alexa Higgins (1-11-1) to double the Knights' advantage before Destiny Ribadeneyra found the back of the net in the 74th minute to settle the 3-0 final.

Higgins made 11 saves for Old Westbury in defeat as Cassidy Rykowski (2-0-0) made one second-half stop to secure the Knights' combined shutout.  
Mount Saint Mary finished with the advantage in shots (38-2), shots on goal (14-2) and corner kicks (15-0).

Keleyna Romoleroux took Old Westbury's first shot in the eighth minute and Gianna Levine accounted for the second attempt in the 47th minute.

COLLEGE OF MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury travels to Riverdale, New York to continue Skyline Conference play Saturday (Oct. 21) against the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (6-7-0, 5-2-0 Skyline) at 12 p.m. from Athletic Field at Marillac.
