OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball closed out their home schedule Tuesday evening by going the distance with the College of Staten Island Dolphins (7-16) to earn a five-set victory (14-25, 25-23, 27-25, 16-25, 15-9) in non-conference action inside Clark Athletic Center. Old Westbury (12-12) finishes the home schedule with an 8-4 record to register its best mark since the 2010 season.

After struggling in the opening set, Old Westbury bounced back to hit .205 with 15 kills in the second stanza. Old Westbury finished the match hitting .089 as Staten Island fired away at a .118 clip. The Panthers held the advantage in aces (13-8), blocks (6-5), assists (44-43) and digs (91-71).

Kristin Grieshaber posted her first-career triple-double by totaling career highs of 18 digs and 12 kills to go along with 16 assists and four aces in leading Old Westbury to victory. Kyraleigh Zinnel followed with 24 assists (career-high),14 digs (career-high) and five aces to register her fifth double-double of the season. Marie McKenzie contributed career highs of nine kills and five solo blocks to the win as Daesha Garrison nailed down a career-best nine kills. Jazmine Ortiz (21 digs) and Monica Crespo (19 digs) both set career highs in digs.

Caitlin Esposito led Staten Island with 13 kills and 17 digs while Jessica Cafiero contributed with game-high 30 assists to go along with 15 digs. Vanessa Reyes chipped in with with 16 digs and eight kills.

PURCHASE COLLEGE PANTHERS AND UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY MARINERS UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury concludes its 2017 campaign Saturday (Oct. 28) with a Skyline Conference tri-match against the Purchase College Panthers at 1 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. matchup with the host United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (13-7, 6-2 Skyline) from Liebertz Gymnasium in Kings Point, New York.
