Balanced attack sends @OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball to four-set victory over Baruch

Old Westbury opens a seven-game road trip Wednesday (Oct. 4) with a Skyline Conference showdown versus St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn)

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball dominated play Tuesday evening to take down the visiting Baruch College Bearcats (6-9) in four sets (25-17, 25-16, 20-25, 25-18) in non-conference action inside Clark Athletic Center.   

Old Westbury had its best hitting set of the match in the opening frame by firing at a .229 clip with 12 kills on 35 swings.  The Panthers finished the match with a .109 hitting percentage compared to Baruch's -.014.  Old Westbury also held the advantage in kills (36-33), blocks (4-1) and assists (34-29).

Kristin Grieshaber led the way for Old Westbury with 21 assists, 12 digs and five aces to record her fifth-career double-double.  Kyraleigh Zinnel followed with 12 assists, 11 digs and eight kills by hitting at a.318 clip to register her second-career double-double.  Nikia Gardon tied her career high with 12 digs while setting a career high of nine kills to go along with two block assists.  Marie McKenzie chipped in seven kills and two solo blocks as Sofia Goris scooped up 12 digs.

Yijia Cai posted 13 kills and five aces to pace Baruch.  Cindy Cui's 20 assists captained the offense while contributing 14 digs on defense.  Danielle Naggar added a match-high 17 digs.
