@OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball tangles with Mount Saint Mary and Mount Saint Vincent

Old Westbury continues Skyline Conference road play next Tuesday (Oct. 10) versus Farmingdale State

RIVERDALE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball traveled to College of Mount Saint Vincent Sunday afternoon for a Skyline Conference tri-match inside Peter Jay Sharp Center.  Old Westbury (9-8, 1-4 Skyline) lost in three sets (19-25, 16-25, 23-25) to the Mount Saint Mary College Knights (7-16, 1-3 Skyline) in the opener before falling in three sets (10-25, 15-25, 16-25) to the host Dolphins (12-7, 5-0 Skyline).

Old Westbury had a strong opening set against Mount Saint Mary by hitting .150 before finishing the match hitting .136 compared to the Knights' .088.  Mount Saint Mary held the edge in aces (12-4) and assists (27-20) while the Panthers held the advantage in blocks (5-1) and digs (37-24).


Kyraleigh Zinnel led Old Westbury with 14 assists and three aces while Sidasia Johnson hit at a .300 clip to contribute four kills in addition to a pair of solo blocks and one block assist.

Kim Gries directed Mount Saint Mary's offense with a game-high 23 assists to go with three aces while Morgan Burke chipped in with game-high seven kills.

Against Mount Saint Vincent, Old Westbury had its best hitting match of the day to finish at .143 while the Dolphins hit .400.  Old Westbury held the edge in digs (22-21) while Mount Saint Vincent finished the match holding the advantage in aces (9-5), blocks (3-1) and assists (33-18).

Zinnel finished with a career-high 17 assists to go with three aces to lead Old Westbury as Nikia Gardon added five kills.

Tara Maloney had a match-high 16 kills while Dez Brown finished with 10 kills, two block assists and one solo block to lead Mount Saint Vincent.  Nicole Henderson paced the Dolphin offense with game-high 32 assists. Lesley Peralta scooped up a game-high 11 digs.

FARMINGDALE STATE COLLEGE RAMS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury continues Skyline Conference road play next Tuesday (Oct. 10) against Farmingdale State College Rams (11-7, 2-0 Skyline) at 6 p.m. from Walter A. Lynch Sports Center in Farmingdale, New York.
