@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer concludes 10-win season in Skyline semifinals

Old Westbury reached the Skyline Conference Championship semifinals for the first time since 2010

NEWBURGH, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer fell behind early and were unable to recover Wednesday evening as the top-seeded Mount Saint Mary Knights (11-7-0) collected a 2-0 victory at home in the Skyline Conference Championship semifinals from Kaplan Field in Newburgh, New York.  Mount Saint Mary will remain at home for Saturday's championship game against No. 2 St. Joseph's College (L.I.).  

The fifth-seeded Panthers finish the season with a 10-6-3 record before advancing to the Skyline Conference Championship semifinals for the first time since 2010.

Matt Fuge capitalized on a turnover by Panther goalie Mike Warren (10-6-3) that allowed him to score the game-winning goal 33 seconds into action for Mount Saint Mary.  Old Westbury attempted the game's next-five shots before the Knights doubled their advantage in the 42nd minute as Fred Stark finished a double feed from Joey Dolan and Bereket Watts for the 2-0 lead heading into intermission.

After holding a 5-2 first-half advantage in shots, Old Westbury put up seven more attempts in the compared to Mount Saint Mary's five in a scoreless second half.

Warren turned away two shots in between Old Westbury's pipes as Tyler Rapp (9-2-0) made six stops to secure Mount Saint Mary's win.  

Alexander Routledge fired four shots (two on goal) in leading Old Westbury to the advantage in shots (12-7) and shots on frame (6-4).  Mount Saint Mary finished with a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
