Renker’s career day sends @OW_Panthers Women's Basketball to seventh-straight win

Charlotte Renker poured in 33 points to lead Old Westbury to Saturday’s 94-54 victory at Purchase

PURCHASE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball continued to dominate play Saturday afternoon by registering a 94-54 Skyline Conference road win over the Purchase College Panthers (2-17, 1-13 Skyline) in Purchase, New York.
 
Kayla Ortiz sank a 3-pointer to break the scoring ice to give Purchase its largest lead of the game 43 seconds in.  Old Westbury (17-3, 10-3 Skyline) grabbed hold of the lead 1:13 later off Jasmine Robinson's triple to make it 6-5.  Trailing by as many as seven points (13-5) in the opening period, Purchase used a 15-6 run to close of the final 6:03 to take a 20-18 lead into the second quarter.  Old Westbury made its run over the next 10 minutes by outscoring Purchase by 19 points (31-12) with a 14-0 spurt over the final 3:45 to take a 49-30 lead into the break.
 
Old Westbury used a 16-3 run from 9:38 to 2:04 to go up by 34 points (67-33) before closing out the third quarter with a 70-42 lead.  Imani Lariosa connected from deep to open the fourth-quarter scoring to make it a 73-42 game with 9:37 remaining.  Lariosa's jumper in the final three minutes sparked an 11-1 Old Westbury run to extend the lead to game-high 40 points to settle the 94-54 final.
 
Charlotte Renker led all scorers with a career-high 33 points (12-of-14 FG, 9-of-12 FT) in addition to collecting 10 rebounds, two blocks and one steal to post her eighth double-double of the season.  Robinson totaled 19 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and four assists to cement her second-career double-double.  Ruth Vargas followed with 15 points and nine rebounds (seven offensive).  Tori Bellings contributed 12 rebounds (career-high) and six assists while Davida Warren chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds.
 
Ortiz finished with 29 points (8-of-14 FG, 6-of-7 3FG) and two steals to pace Purchase.
 
In the end, Old Westbury connected on 46.3 percent (37-of-80) from the field, 36.4 percent (4-of-11) from 3-point range and 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, Purchase hit on 25.8 percent (17-of-66) from the floor, 33.3 percent (11-of-33) from beyond the arc and 81.8 percent (9-of-11) from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 73-26, scoring 26 second-chance points off 29 offensive rebounds.  Old Westbury also held the advantage in blocks (2-1), steals (13-7) and assists (19-7) while scoring 23 points off 21 Purchase turnovers.
