OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury softball hosted the Mount Saint Mary College Knights (19-12, 12-1 Skyline) in a Skyline Conference Senior Day Saturday afternoon inside Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  Old Westbury (10-9, 4-9 Skyline) fell in game one 18-1, before the second game was postponed due to weather.

Prior to first pitch, seniors Nicole DeCola (2014-17), Katie Rizzo (2014-17), Gabriella Valdes (2014-17) and Magdalena Wysocka (2017) were honored with Old Westbury's annual Senior Day Ceremony for their dedication to SUNY Old Westbury Athletics.

Mount Saint Mary broke the scoring ice in the first inning off Panther starter DeCola (L, 4-1; 2.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, K).  Shannon Sommer (3-for-5, 5 R, BB) earned a leadoff walk and two batters later scored off Michelle Surdan's (3-for-4, 2 R, 4 RBI) double down the left field line to give the Knights the early 1-0 advantage.

Mount Saint Mary tacked on three runs in the third inning off Panther reliever Amanda Neenan (ND; 4.2 IP, 15 H, 16 R, 6 ER, 6 BB, K).  With two outs and runners on first and third, a single by Cindy Connoly (3-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, BB) and a double by Kathryn Eiler (2-for-5, R, 3 RBI) pushed the lead to 4-0.

The Knights extended its advantage to 6-0 in the fourth inning off a two-run double by Surdan.

Old Westbury put one on the board off Mount Saint Mary starter Connoly (W, 8-7; 7 IP, 5 H, R, ER, 8 K) in the bottom frame of the fourth.  Joshlyn Grant (1-for-2, R) and Samantha Scharff (1-for-3) reached off singles before Amanda Fucci (1-for-3, RBI) slapped a double to center field to score Grant and slice the deficit to five (6-1).

Mount Saint Mary scored 12 runs in the seventh inning highlighted by a two-run homerun to left field by Breanna DePasquale (1-for-3, R, 3 RBI) and a two-RBI double by Connoly as the Knights settled the 18-1 final.
