@OW_Panthers Women’s Lacrosse closes out home schedule with Farmingdale State

Old Westbury concludes the regular season schedule with conference play Saturday (Apr. 29) versus Maritime

FARMINGDALE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse (5-9, 4-3 Skyline) fell 18-2 Tuesday afternoon to the Farmingdale State College Rams (14-1, 7-0 Skyline) in Skyline Conference home action from Rams Field in Farmingdale, New York.

Farmingdale State broke the scoring ice 3:02 in and doubled the advantage 43 seconds later courtesy of Victoria Varone and Brittany Rosino finishing feeds from Janisha Sanchez to take the early 2-0 lead.  Courtney Gendels and Alexandra Sparrow each found the back of the net at 22:40 and 20:30 to push the Rams advantage to four (4-0).  Rachel Phillips opened the scoring for Old Westbury after netting her 23rd goal of the season at 13:19 to pull within three (4-1).  Farmingdale State closed out the first half scoring with five unanswered goals over the remaining 12:36 to head into intermission with the 9-1 lead.
Natasha Treuman opened the second half scoring 1:29 in with her 38th goal of the season for Old Westbury to pull within seven (9-2).  Farmingdale State continued its strong play by using a 9-0 spurt over the final 24:32 of the second half before settling the 18-2 final.

Phillips paced Old Westbury with one goal on three shots, two ground balls and two caused turnovers.  Truman chipped in with one goal on two shots and one draw control while Ashley Gugliuzzo stopped 14 shots in the defeat.

Varone finished with game-highs six points (five goals on seven shots) to go with three ground balls, three caused turnovers and two draw controls to lead Farmingdale State.  Rosino won a game-high nine draw controls while Sanchez dished out a game-high six assists.  Gendels and Sparrows added three goals apiece while Tori Johnston made seven saves to secure the win.

SUNY MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury travels to Throggs Neck, New York to close out its regular season schedule Saturday (Apr. 29) in a Skyline Conference showdown with SUNY Maritime Privateers at 1 p.m. inside Reinhart Field
