OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer opened its home schedule Thursday afternoon with a 1-1 tie at the end of 110 minutes against the Kean University Cougars (2-1-0) in non-conference action inside Panther Park.

Both teams played to a scoreless first half with Kean holding a 7-5 advantage in shots.

It wasn't until the 77th minute when Nikolas Sgaraglio put away a feed from Mike Rodrigues on Kean goalie Manuel Steven Ortiz Ruiz (1-1-1) to break the scoring ice for Old Westbury (1-2-1).

Alex Noriega caused a turnover in the backfield before sending a cross to Kamsi Udoi, who headed the equalizer past Panther goalie Mike Warren (1-2-1) in the 88th minute to send a 1-1 game into overtime.

Kean was the aggressor in the first overtime period with two shots. Old Westbury was unable to capitalize on a golden opportunity with 2:09 remaining in the second overtime as Jorey Garcia misfired a laser that rattled the left post.

Warren made 12 saves while Ortiz Ruiz stopped five shots.

In the end, Kean held the advantage in shots (24-16) and shots on goal (13-6). Both teams finished with three corner kicks each.

MITCHELL COLLEGE MARINERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury opens a five-game road trip Saturday (Sept. 16) with a 2 p.m. non-conference showdown versus the Mitchell College (0-2-1) from Alumni Field in New London, Connecticut.
