@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer opens road trip at Bryn Athyn

Old Westbury continues its three-game road trip Tuesday (Sept. 19) at Sarah Lawrence

BRYN ATHYN, PA --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer opened their three-game road trip Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 heartbreaking setback to the Bryn Athyn College Lions (4-1-0) in non-conference action from General Ronald K. Nelson Field in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania.

Both teams played to a scoreless tie through 45 minutes.  Alysha Annarella put up Old Westbury's first shot 5:29 while Bryn Athyn finished the first half with the advantage in shots (6-5), shots on goal (1-0) and corner kicks (2-1).

Bryn Athyn was the aggressor in the second half as the Lions fired three of the period's first four shots.  The Lions broke through in the 83rd minute as Kristen White finished a feed Lyss Bosler to score on Panther goalie Alexa Higgins (0-4-0) for the game-winning goal.  Despite firing five shots (four on goal) in the final 4:22, Old Westbury was unable to find the back of the net in the 1-0 final. 

Higgins finished with four saves in defeat for Old Westbury as Allie Warren (4-1-0) stopped five shots to record Bryn Athyn's shutout.
 
In the end, both teams drew even in shots (13-13), shots on goal (5-5) while Bryn Athyn held the edge in corner kicks (5-2).  Old Westbury's offensive efforts were led by Annarella, who put up a game-high six shots, followed by Shauna Henderson's three.

SARAH LAWRENCE COLLEGE GRYPHONS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury continues road play Tuesday (Sept. 19) against the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons at 7:30 p.m. in Skyline Conference action from Tibbets Brook Park in Yonkers, New York.
