@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer concludes three-game road trip at Western Connecticut State

Old Westbury returns home Saturday (Sept. 23) for a non-conference showdown with CCNY

DANBURY, CT --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer concluded their three-game road trip Thursday evening with a 7-0 non-conference setback to the Western Connecticut State University Colonials (7-0-0) from The WAC in Danbury, Connecticut.

Lucy Daniels scored on Panther goalie Alexa Higgins (0-6-0) with a header off Bailey McCollum's corner kick feed to break the scoring for Western Connecticut in the 17th minute for the 1-0 lead.  Autumn Sorice then found Devon Shugdinis to double the Colonials advantage for the two-goal advantage in the 21st minute.  Sorice netted a goal of her own in the 22nd minute to push Western Connecticut's lead to three.  McCollum then closed out the first-half scoring for the Colonials with her second goal of the game in the 26th minute after finishing Alisson Oakley's feed to send a 4-0 game into intermission.

Emily Beard and Jenna Barron opened the second-half scoring with goals in the 60th and 61st minutes, respectively, before Oakley closed out the scoring in the 63rd minute to settle the 7-0 final.

Gabby Lamanno attempted to put Old Westbury's (1-6-0) lone shot past Colonial goalie Alexis Lainchbury (1-0-0) in the 75th minute.  Western Connecticut finished with the advantage in shots (31-1), shots on goal (22-1) and corner kicks (12-0).

Higgins made a career-high 15 saves in defeat for Old Westbury.  Lainchbury stopped one shot to secure Western Connecticut's shutout.

CITY COLLEGE OF NEW YORK BEAVERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home Saturday (Sept. 23) for a non-conference showdown against the City College of New York Beavers at 12 p.m. from Panther Park.
