@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer returns home to battle CCNY

Old Westbury travels to Mitchell College on Wednesday (Sept. 27)

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer returned home after completing their three-game road trip Saturday by  falling 4-0 to The City College of New York Beavers (3-3-1) in non-conference action inside Panther Park.

CCNY broke a scoreless tie in the 29th minute as Melany Caceres beat Panther goalie Mary Clark (1-1-0) on a laser outside the box.  The Beavers took the one-goal lead into the half after holding an 8-1 edge in shots as Nicole Jones' attempt in the 32nd minute was Old Westbury's lone shot of the period.

The Beavers doubled their advantage 1:11 into second-half play off Daniela Grisales-Agudelo's goal on Panther goalie Alexa Higgins to make it a 2-0 game.  Grisales-Agudelo and Caceres both netted goals 19 seconds apart in the 87th minute on Panther goalie Keyanna Jones-Rocourt to settle the 4-0 final.

Clark stopped two first-half shots in defeat for Old Westbury as Catherine Langkamp (3-3-1) made three saves to secure CCNY's shutout.   

In the end, CCNY held the advantage in shots (17-7), shots on goal (10-3) and corner kicks (3-1).   

MITCHELL COLLEGE MARINERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury (1-7-0) returns to the road Wednesday (Sept. 27) for a non-conference showdown against the Mitchell College Mariners (1-4-0) at 3:30 p.m. from Alumni Field in New London, Connecticut.
