OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball returned to .500 in the Skyline Conference standings Thursday evening with a 79-54 home win over the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons (3-14, 2-10 Skyline) inside Clark Athletic Center. Since Sarah Lawrence joined the Skyline Conference in 2014-15, Old Westbury (6-9, 5-5 Skyline) has won all six decisions.

Terrin Roland broke the scoring ice 1:01 in with a 3-pointer before Yancy Ulysse's layup with 17:59 left gave Old Westbury a 5-0 lead. Sarah Lawrence kept it close by pulling within one point on four different occasions during the first half. Khalil Wilson connected on a jumper to cap a 7-0 Panther run to put Old Westbury ahead by nine (32-23) with 3:56 remaining. Wilson later stretched Old Westbury's lead to 11 (36-25) with a layup with 1:40 showing on the first-half clock. Luke O'Connor scored five-straight points in the final 1:15 to slice Sarah Lawrence's deficit to six (36-30) heading into intermission.

The Panthers hit on their first-three shots to open the half as Preston Powell sank a pair of triples to build Old Westbury's lead to double figures, 44-30. Powell later capped Old Westbury's 13-0 run with a 3-pointer to push the lead to 19 (49-30) with 15:58 left. Alan McDonald finished a feed from Roland with 9:16 remaining to grow Old Westbury's advantage to a game-high 20 points (63-43). The Gryphons answered with a 13-3 spurt to make it a 10-point game (66-56) with 6:33 left. Old Westbury outscored Sarah Lawrence by five (13-8) over the final 5:54 to hold on for the 15-point win.

Powell finished with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting from 3-point range to lead Old Westbury. McDonald scored 14 while Roland, Julieon Boney and David Rodriguez all poured in 10 points. Roland added game highs of nine assists and five steals to his statline in addition to pulling down eight rebounds. Ulysse chipped in five assists and two blocks.

B.J. Sanders paced Sarah Lawrence with 18 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. O'Conner (13 points) and Kaleb Robinson (10 points) both followed in double figures.

In the end, Old Westbury hit on percent 44.3 (27-of-61) from the floor, 36.7 percent (11-of-30) from beyond the arc and 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the charity stripe. By comparison, Sarah Lawrence connected on 37.9 percent (22-of-58) from the floor, 26.9 percent (7-of-26) from 3-point range and 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from the free-throw line. Old Westbury won the boards battle, 39-36, while scoring five second-chance points off eight offensive rebounds. The Panthers scored 15 points off 15 Gryphon miscues. Old Westbury held the advantage in assists (21-13), blocks (3-2), steals (8-3), bench points (30-23) and fastbreak points (12-2). Both teams were even with points in the paint (28-28).
