@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer celebrates Senior Day with a Skyline draw with Maritime

Old Westbury remains on campus Tuesday (Oct. 16) for its home finale in a Skyline Conference showdown against College of Mount Saint Vincent

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer celebrated Senior Day Saturday afternoon with a 1-1 double overtime Skyline Conference draw against the Maritime College Privateers (2-8-1, 1-4-1 Skyline) on Breast Cancer Awareness Day from Panther Park.  Old Westbury (3-11-1, 1-4-1 Skyline) are now 9-0-2 against the Privateers since 2008.

Prior to opening kickoff, seniors Mary Clark (2015-18), Alexa Higgins (2017-18), Alicia Pirone (2015-18), Keleyna Romoleroux (2017-18) and Effie Shani (2016-18) were honored with the annual Senior Day Ceremony for their dedication to the Old Westbury women's soccer program.

Clark broke Old Westbury into the shot column 5:41 in before MacKenzie Fabiani took Maritime's lone first-half shot in the 23rd minute.  After Fabiani's shot, the Panthers took five additional strikes to hold the opening half shot advantage (9-1) for the fourth time this season and sent a scoreless half into intermission.

Old Westbury's best scoring opportunities came in the 53rd and 58th minutes, respectively, as Cara Normile served Brianna Williams twice in the box for one-touch goal attempts.  In the 78th minute, Williams gathered the loose ball in the box to feed Celeste Henriquez as she buried her first-career goal past Privateer goalie Cammie Havens (2-8-1) and give Old Westbury the 1-0 lead.  Brianna Etienne answered with Maritime's equalizer in the 83rd minute to send the 1-1 game into overtime.

Normile tested Havens 58 seconds into the first overtime before Williams attacked again for Old Westbury in the 94th minute.  Williams attempted the final shot in the 104th minute of the final stanza to settle for the 1-1 decision.

Higgins (3-11-1) recorded one save on the day as Havens swatted away 10 shots.

In the end, Old Westbury led the way in shots (22-2), shots on goal (11-2) and corner kicks (7-0).  Williams spearheaded Old Westbury's offensive attack with seven shots.
