@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer tops St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn) for third-straight Skyline road win

Old Westbury closes out the regular season Wednesday (Oct. 24) at home with a Skyline Conference matchup against College of Mount Saint Vincent

BROOKLYN, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer earned their third-straight Skyline Conference road win Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 final against the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears (5-14-0, 1-8-0 Skyline) from Aviator Field in Brooklyn.  The Panthers (8-5-4, 4-1-4 Skyline), who are now 4-0 against the Bears dating back to the 2015 season, move into a three-way tie for third place in the league standings.

Old Westbury fired its first shot off 15:03 in as Stephen Locurcio was stopped by Bear goalkeeper Alejandro Oliveros (4-14-0).  The Panthers continued their offensive attack as Eric Ragogna set up Nick Gino as he buried a goal in the 22nd minute to send a 1-0 game into intermission.

In the second stanza, St. Joseph's found the back of the net first as Kenneth Garcia dished a pass to Mateusz Georges for the equalizer in the 60th minute.  The Panthers quickly showed their resiliency as Alexander Routledge responded with his third-career game-winning goal in the 62nd minute to seal the 2-1 victory for Old Westbury.

Panther goalkeeper Mike Warren (8-5-4) stopped four shots on the day as Oliveros rejected six attempts in a losing effort for the Bears.

At the end of 90 minutes, Old Westbury owned the advantage in shots (9-7) and shots on goal (8-5) while both teams drew even in corner kicks (3-3).

COLLEGE OF MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury closes out the regular season at home Wednesday (Oct. 24) with a Skyline Conference matchup against the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (3-14-0, 1-8-0 Skyline) at 3:30 p.m. from Panther Park.  The Panthers are 9-3-0 against the Dolphins since the 2005 campaign.
