@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer rolls past Mount Saint Vincent in regular-season finale

Old Westbury makes its third-straight Skyline Conference Championship appearance Saturday (Oct. 27) with a first-round matchup

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer concluded the regular season Wednesday afternoon by claiming a 4-0 Skyline Conference victory over the visiting College of Mount Saint Vincent (3-15-0, 1-9-0 Skyline) from Panther Park.  With the win, the Panthers (9-5-4, 5-1-4 Skyline) advance to postseason play for the third-consecutive season and will await their opponent for Saturday's (Oct. 27) first-round matchup.  Old Westbury is now 10-3-0 against the Dolphins since the 2005 campaign.

A foul in the box 3:15 in awarded Edens Avril with a penalty kick for a strike past Dolphin goalie Padelis Astrinidis (3-15-0) to register his fifth-career game-winning goal.  Old Westbury scored an own goal in the 26th minute as Alexander Routledge's cross was deflected by the Dolphin defense for the two-goal lead.  Matthew Babcock put the Dolphins in the shot column with an attempt that sailed high in the 40th minute.

Old Westbury opened the second-half scoring in the 60th minute with Peter Young's header to finish a Ronald Monge feed for the three-goal advantage.  Nick Gino then joined in on the scoring frenzy in the 65th minute to settle the 4-0 final by putting away a loose ball to extend his scoring streak to four games.

Panther goalie Mike Warren (9-5-4) faced just one shot in 73 minutes before James Perciballi preserved the team's fourth combined shutout of the season.  Astrinidis made eight saves in defeat for Mount Saint Vincent.

At the end of 90 minutes, Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (22-1), shots on goal (12-1) and corner kicks (8-3).
