Old Westbury will travel to top-seeded Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday (Oct. 31) for a Skyline Conference semifinal-round showdown

Skyline Conference Championship Central

FARMINGDALE, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer claimed a 3-1 Skyline Conference Championship shootout in Sunday's scoreless first-round final over the fifth-seeded Farmingdale State College Rams (9-7-2) from Rams Field in Farmingdale, New York.  With the tie, Old Westbury (9-5-5) moves to 9-5-2 against the Rams since 2005.

No. 4 Old Westbury advances to Wednesday's Skyline Conference Championship semifinal-round for the second-straight year to face the top-seeded and defending champions Mount Saint Mary College Knights (12-5-1) at 7 p.m. from Kaplan Field in Newburgh, New York.  Old Westbury and Mount Saint Mary previously met on October 5, which resulted in a 0-0 double overtime draw (Click here for Box Score). The Panthers have registered four-consecutive ties and are 3-5-2 in their last ten matchups against Mount Saint Mary.

In the scoreless opening period, Old Westbury totaled nine shots (one on goal) compared to Farmingdale State's lone shot that landed on target in the 38th minute.

The Panthers applied pressure on Ram goalie Scott Flores (8-7-2) by taking four shots (two on goal) during a 19-minute stretch in the second half.  Brayan Cruz's shot sailed high for Farmingdale State in the 79th minute before the Rams defense blocked Alex DaSilva's strike at 87:11 to send the scoreless stalemate into overtime.

Both teams were held even with one shot in the first overtime while Old Westbury played the aggressor with three attempts in the second as the score remained 0-0 heading into the shootout to decide the winner.

Daniel Mehryari put the Rams up, 1-0, in the shootout before Edens Avril responded with the equalizing tally.  William Grajales' attempt missed high as Ronald Monge put away the decisive goal to give Old Westbury the 2-1 lead.  Kyle Gully's shot was sent away by Mike Warren (9-5-5) followed by Elvin Campos' goal past Flores.  Warren stopped a crucial Alex Castano shot that advanced the Panthers into Wednesday's semifinal showdown.

Warren turned away one shot to secure his seventh shutout of the season and 16th of his career as Flores made a trio of saves for the Rams.

Through double overtime, Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (18-3), shots on goal (3-1) and corner kicks (6-2).
