Old Westbury travels to St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) on Saturday (Oct. 6) for a Skyline Conference showdown

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer dropped a 2-0 Skyline Conference decision at home Thursday afternoon against the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles (4-4-0, 2-0-0 Skyline) from Panther Park.  Old Westbury (3-9-0, 1-3-0 Skyline) has now lost five-straight games to the Golden Eagles since 2015.

The Golden Eagles opened the scoring in the 15th minute as Carly Credidio buried Rebecca Walsh's feed in the box past Panther goalie Alexa Higgins (3-9-0) for the early 1-0 lead.  Old Westbury broke into the shot column 5:28 in with Shauna Henderson's attempt being turned away by Golden Eagle goalie Juliana Cintron-Leonardo (4-4-0).  The Panthers tested Cintron-Leonardo in the 31st minute with a Cara Normile free kick 10 yards from the box as St. Joseph's outshot Old Westbury 14-2 in the opening stanza.

St. Joseph's doubled its advantage in the 63rd minute with a Claire Brady quick strike goal from Christina Gagliardi to settle the 2-0 final.

Higgins stopped 10 shots while Cintron-Leonardo made three saves to secure the clean sheet.

In the end, St. Joseph's held the edge in shots (30-9), shots on goal (12-3) and corner kicks (6-3).  Normile landed one of her three shots on goal to pace Old Westbury's offensive attack.
