@OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball closes out home slate with Dig Pink matchup against Farmingdale State

Old Westbury opens up a five-game road trip Sunday (Oct. 14) with a Skyline Conference tri-match against St. Joseph’s College (L.I.) and Maritime College

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball fell in four sets (25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 25-23) in their home finale Tuesday evening to the Farmingdale State College Rams (7-16, 4-1 Skyline) in a Skyline Conference Dig Pink matchup inside Clark Athletic Center.  The Panthers (4-13, 3-3 Skyline) have lost eight-straight contests to the Rams since the 2012 campaign.

The Panthers put together their finest hitting set in the second stanza to attack at a rate of .189 before finishing the match at .090.  Farmingdale State hit at .131 while holding the advantage in kills (46-36), aces (14-7) and assists (41-32). Both team tallied four blocks as Old Westbury owned a 71-68 edge in digs.  

Kyraleigh Zinnel registered 21 assists, 13 digs, seven kills and three aces to post her eighth double-double of the season (15th career) in leading Old Westbury.  Kristin Grieshaber nailed down a season-best nine kills to go with 14 digs and two aces. Danielle Corsi and Joelle Desrosiers each recorded two solo blocks while Sofia Goris scooped 18 digs.

Angie Yarrow captained the Rams to victory with a match-high 35 assists and four aces.  Kelsey Voiklis and Annie Cosgrave racked up 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Kate Flamio and Kellianne Dempsey both had 16 digs.

GOLDEN EAGLES SKYLINE CONFERENCE TRI-MATCH UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury hits the road Sunday (Oct. 14) for a Skyline Conference tri-match with the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles (11-9, 1-1 Skyline) at 10 a.m. followed by the Maritime College Privateers (4-10, 1-1 Skyline) at 12 p.m. from Danzi Center in Patchogue, New York.
