EDWARDSVILLE, PA --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse broke into the win column Thursday afternoon with a 13-5 non-conference road win over the Wilkes University Colonels (1-4) from Schmidt Stadium in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania . Old Westbury (1-2) has won two-straight games versus the Colonels and a 2-4 all-time record against Wilkes.

Halle Johnson broke the scoring ice three minutes in with a man-up goal to net her second tally of the season. Wilkes answered with back-to-back goals before Danielle Weir assisted on Rachel Phillips' first goal of the season to knot the game (2-2) at 18:01. Weir later dished helpers to Taylor Guarneri and Phillips before Yaritza Caraballo finished off a 3-0 run to build Old Westbury's 5-3 lead with 7:56 remaining in the half. Old Westbury scored two more times in the final 3:50 with goals by Phillips and Guarneri to take a 7-4 lead into intermission. Weir tied a career high with her fourth assist of the game on Phillips' third-career game-winning goal with 3:50 left.

Both teams traded goals to open second-half play before Old Westbury scored five-unanswered goals to close out the game. Phillips scored two of her career-high five goals in the final period. Guarneri netted her third-career hat trick with 22:23 remaining. Weir, who totaled five ground balls and five caused turnovers, closed out the scoring with 5:17 showing on the clock. Cameron Isnardi controlled a game-high five draws. Ashley Gugliuzzo (1-2) made 10 saves to secure Old Westbury's win in a complete game effort.

Jessyca Held led the way for the Colonels as she scored a hat trick and recorded an assist while Kyra Boccio took a game-high 11 shots to register a goal and two assists. Sarah Carlini (1-4) stopped 14 shots in defeat for Wilkes.

CENTRE COLLEGE COLONELS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action next Monday (Mar. 19) in Hilton Head, South Carolina for a non-conference matchup versus the Centre College Colonels at 11:30 a.m.
