Gugliuzzo’s 14 saves lead @OW_Panthers Women’s Lacrosse against Centre

Old Westbury returns to action Wednesday (Mar. 21) against Hope University in Bluffton, South Carolina

HILTON HEAD, SC --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse fell victim to a late first-half run to drop a 21-7 non-conference decision to the Centre College Colonels (7-1) from Hilton Head Preparatory School in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Cameron Isnardi broke the scoring ice 1:29 in with a free-position goal to give Old Westbury (1-3) the early advantage.  Centre answered with back-to-back goals before Rachel Phillips netted her sixth goal of the season with 20:41 remaining in the period to knot the game at 2-all.  The Colonels then put up eight-straight goals to grab a 10-2 lead with 10:24 showing on the first-half clock. Natasha Treuman rattled the back of the cage at 9:25 to stop the Colonel run followed by scores from Isnardi and Phillips to slice the deficit in half, 10-5.  Centre netted four-unanswered goals in the final 3:56 to take a 14-5 lead into intermission.

The Colonels stormed out of the second-half gates with six-straight goals to build a 15-goal lead (20-5) with 13:29 remaining.  Treuman answered the call with a goal at 8:33 to end Centre's 10-0 spurt. She later settled the 21-7 final by scoring for the third time to record her 22nd-career hat trick.

Treuman tied a career high with seven draw controls (game-high).  Jessica Tuckruskye caused a season-best three turnovers. Ashley Gugliuzzo (1-3) turned away a season-best 14 shots and picked up three ground ball in defeat for Old Westbury.

Natalie Marek (7-1) collected 11 saves to secure Centre's win.  Haden Gibbons scored a game-high six goals while Hannah Bellamah followed with four.
