Old Westbury remains on the road Saturday (Apr. 21) for a Skyline Conference showdown against College of Mount Saint Vincent

PURCHASE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse earned a convincing 16-13 Skyline Conference road win over the Purchase College Panthers (7-3, 2-3 Skyline) Wednesday evening from Purchase College Field in Purchase, New York.  Old Westbury (3-9, 2-2 Skyline) has won its last three matchups versus Purchase to lead the all-time series 4-3.

Old Westbury took the early lead as Natasha Treuman scored a hat trick 3:58 in before Rachel Phillips scored at 25:05 to build a four-goal cushion.  After Kelly Turtell put Purchase on the board 4:51 later, Old Westbury answered with goals by Danielle Weir and Shijuan Williams to make it a five-goal game (6-1) with 16:47 left in the half.  Purchase netted a pair of unanswered goals by Gabriella Castles to trim its deficit to three (6-3) heading into intermission.

Castles scored 1:27 into second-half play to make it a 6-4 game. Treuman scored twice and Phillips added another goal to fuel Old Westbury's 3-1 run over a stretch of 1:56 to build back a four-goal lead (9-5).  Purchase used a 4-1 spurt to pull within one (10-9) with 16:15 remaining. Weir and Treuman rattled the cage with back-to-back goals to bring the lead back to three (12-9). Halle Johnson scored twice in a span of 1:19 as a response to Purchase's goal to extend Old Westbury's lead to four (14-10) with 7:08 left.  Johnson's tally at 7:08 set a program record with her fifth-career game-winning goal. Purchase scored 59 seconds later with Turtell's fourth goal of the game before Phillips and Johnson put the game out of reach by increasing the lead to five (16-11). Purchase added two goals in final 2:54 to settle the 16-13 final.

Treuman finished with seven goals, one assist, six caused turnovers and five ground balls.  Phillips scored three time and assisted on one as Johnson registered three goals.  Weir chipped in with two goals, six draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls.  Cameron Isnardi controlled seven draws.
