OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball started the 2018 season on the right note Friday afternoon with a convincing sweep (25-15, 25-22, 25-12) over the City College of New York Beavers (0-1) to open play at the Old Westbury Labor Day Invitational inside Clark Athletic Center. SUNY Potsdam (2-0) later handed Old Westbury a three-set setback (26-24, 25-14, 25- 18) to close out the day.

Old Westbury 3, CCNY 0
Old Westbury finished with 24 kills on 54 swings to hit .321, its highest attacking percentage since registering a rate of .395 versus Maritime College on October 26, 2013. The Panthers limited CCNY to hitting .038 and finished with the edge in aces (8-7), blocks (8-1) and digs (24-21).

Kyraleigh Zinnel served a match-high five aces and dished out 11 assists to pace the Panthers. Joelle Desrosiers debuted with eight kills and hit .667 while Shanayia Lloyd followed by nailing down six kills. Danielle Corsi totaled four kills and 3.5 blocks as Kristin Grieshaber added 10 assists, seven digs and four blocks assists.

Cha-Neice Gordan had nine kills while Dzeneta Harambasic racked up a match-leading 20 assists to lead CCNY.

Potsdam 3, Old Westbury 0
Old Westbury hit .192 in the opening set before declining in the next two to finish the match attacking at a .050 clip. Potsdam fired away at a .235 rate while holding the advantage in kills (38-23), aces (13-7) and assists (36-19). Old Westbury outperformed Potsdam in blocks (3-1) and digs (43-37).

Grieshaber moved the Panther offense with 11 assists, four kills and three aces. Zinnel and Desrosiers both nailed down five kills. Desrosiers had a pair of solo blocks while Sofia Goris scooped 13 digs.

Gabby Scott, Monica Mack and Nicole Hansen dropped 10 kills as Brianna Rodda's match-high 28 assists directed Potsdam to victory. Natalie Magallon produced 11 digs followed by Rodda's 10.
