@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer rolls past Medgar Evers, 4-0

Old Westbury opens a three-game homestand Monday (Sept. 17) against Ramapo College

BROOKLYN --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer dominated play Saturday evening to compile a 4-0 non-conference road win over the Medgar Evers College Cougars (0-3-0) from Aviator Field in Brooklyn.  The Panthers (2-3-0) now own a 6-0 record versus Medgar Evers since 2007.  With the shutout, Old Westbury has held the Cougars scoreless for 440+ minutes dating back to 2014.

Nick Gino registered his first career points by scoring on Cougar goalie Carl Obesissant (0-3-0) for the game-winning goal off a feed from Edens Avril 24:02 in.

Leading 1-0 out of the first-half gates, Old Westbury doubled its advantage in the 53rd minute with Avril's penalty kick strike for the 2-0 lead.  Avril then made it a three-goal game in the 70th minute by going one-on-one with Obesissant for his third goal of the season.  Gino would settle the 4-0 final in the 75th minute.  After being outscoring 6-0 in their first three games, the Panthers have put up eight goals during the two-straight shutout wins.

Mike Warren (2-3-0) played 80 minutes before James Perciballi took over to preserve Old Westbury's cleansheet.  Obesissant made seven saves in defeat for Medgar Evers.

In the end, Old Westbury outplayed Medgar Evers to control shots (26-5), shots on goal (11-0) and corner kicks (4-2).

RAMAPO COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury opens a three-game homestand Monday (Sept. 17) with a non-conference showdown against the Ramapo College Roadrunners (6-0) at 4 p.m. from Panther Park.  Ramapo had won 17-straight games versus Old Westbury dating back to 1996 until the Panthers picked up a 1-0 road win over the Roadrunners a season ago.
