@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer opens homestand with Ramapo battle

Old Westbury remains at home Wednesday (Sept. 19) for a non-conference matchup versus Mitchell College

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer opened a three-game homestand Monday afternoon with a 2-1 non-conference setback to the Ramapo College Roadrunners (7-0-0) from Panther Park.  

Old Westbury jumped in front 10 minutes in as Edens Avril's post shot ricocheted off defender Ronald Kestelboym to score past goalie Joshua Schaffer (7-0-0) for the own goal.  Panther goalie Mike Warren (2-4-0) saved four first-half shots as he was tested with 11 attempts in the opening period.

Trevor Albrecht sent a corner kick to Brady White, who headed home Ramapo's game-tying goal 3:48 into second-half play.  Ramapo took a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute as Kestelboym sent a one-timer to Malik Lopes for the header past Warren.  

Warren finished the day with six saves while Schaffer turned away two shots.  

Ramapo held the advantage in shots (21-7), shots on goal (8-3) and corner kicks (11-5).

MITCHELL COLLEGE MARINERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury continues its three-game homestand Wednesday (Sept. 19) with a non-conference showdown against the Mitchell College Mariners (2-2-0) at 4 p.m. from Panther Park.  Old Westbury seeks its second consecutive victory over Mitchell after a 2-1 road win over the Mariners a season ago.
