NEW HAVEN, CT --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball traveled Saturday afternoon to New Haven, Connecticut for a non-conference tri-match hosted by the Albertus Magnus College Falcons (6-5) inside Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center. The Falcons took the opener in three sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-21) before Old Westbury (1-10) pushed the Rutgers University-Newark Scarlet Raiders (10-2) to four sets to fall 25-18, 20-25, 25-12, 25-14.

Old Westbury opened the match against Albertus Magnus hitting .194 and finished the contest at a rate of .087. The Falcons hit .152 while holding the advantage in kills (33-32), assists (33-31) and aces (14-5). Old Westbury outplayed the Falcons in blocks (5-1) and digs (68-43).

Danielle Corsi nailed down 10 kills to tie a career high in leading Old Westbury. Daesha Garrison and Kyraleigh Zinnel followed with six kills apiece. Zinnel added 15 assists and 12 digs to her statline as Kristin Grieshaber totaled 15 assists and 12 digs. Joelle Desrosiers totaled 3.5 blocks and two aces. Sofia Goris went for a season-best 24 digs.

Summer Onorato served a match-high seven aces and scooped 16 digs to pace Albertus Magus. Genesis Cora Luquis posted 15 kills as Jaiden Willaims dished out 30 assists.

Against Rutgers-Newark, the Panthers produced a .258 hitting percentage in the second set before finishing at .019 for the match. The Scarlet Raiders attacked at a .190 clip and held the edge in kills (40-28), aces (16-5), blocks (5-3) and assists (37-24) while the Panthers won the battle of the digs, 53-48.

Corsi and Desrosiers each totaled eight kills as Grieshaber's 13 assists captained the offense. Grieshaber and Zinnel both served two aces. Desrosiers and Grieshaber chipped in with two block assists apiece. Leading the defensive charge was Grieshaber and Goris, who totaled 16 and 10 digs, respectively.

Karly Gregoire's 34 assists moved Rutgers-Newark's offensive attack thanks to Comfort Akinbo's match-high 16 kills. Sharon Starling added 13 kills and eight kills while Brione Locket tallied 20 digs.

COLLEGE OF MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS AND MOUNT SAINT MARY COLLEGE KNIGHTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury heads back to campus next Sunday (Sept. 30) for a Skyline Conference Senior Day tri-match against the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins at 10 a.m. and the Mount Saint Mary College Knights at 2 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center. Prior to opening serve versus Mount Saint Mary, seniors Sofia Goris (2015-18) and Shanayia Lloyd (2015-18) will be honored for their dedication to Old Westbury Athletics with the annual Senior Day Ceremony.
