Big second half sends @OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer to Skyline-opening win over Farmingdale State

Old Westbury travels Wednesday (Sept. 26) for a Skyline Conference showdown at United States Merchant Marine Academy

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer opened Skyline Conference play Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 triumph at home over the Farmingdale State College Rams (3-4-0, 0-1-0 Skyline) inside Panther Park.  With the win, Old Westbury (4-4-0, 1-0-0 Skyline) improves to 10-6-1 against the Rams since 2005.

After a first half that saw Old Westbury put up eight shots as its defense kept the Rams shotless, Daniel Reiskin connected with Edens Avril's to break a scoreless tie in the 61st minute.  The game-winning goal was Avril's second-career game-winning goal. Old Westbury doubled its advantage in the 70th minute as Alex DaSilva gathered a loose ball for a blast past Ram goalie Scott Flores (3-3-0) to settle the 2-0 final.

Panther goalie Mike Warren (4-4-0) faced his first shot of the game 59:08 in and finished with three saves to secure his 11th career shutout.  Flores made two saves in defeat for Farmingdale State.
